Beach House - Mandela Hall

Holy Other
Friday 26th October 2012 20:00

Beach House have announced they will play the Mandela Hall on Friday 26th of October 2012.

The Baltimore duo return to Queens SU having wowed The Speakeasy back in February of 2010.
With their recently released fourth album Bloom receiving much critical fanfareVictoria Legrand and Alex Scally are set to undertake a mammoth tour of the United States before visiting Europe in the Autumn.
Carrying on where its predecessor, the sublime Teen Dream, left off, Bloom manages to maintain the band's signature sound while also displaying a clear progression with Pitchfork stating  "Bloom's wingspan is fuller than anything Beach House have done before."
The album was recorded in late 2011 at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, TX,  mixed at Electric Lady in NYC and co-produced by the band and Chris Coady who has previously worked with bands such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals and TV On The Radio.
Legrand's ethereal contralto huffs so much life into her lines that even lyrics that look plain on the page take flight. - Pitchfork
Once you manage to pull away from Bloom's magnified scenery and consider the record as a whole it's difficult to think of it as anything other than its makers’ best work so far. - BBC Music

The band are increasingly clever at turning a melody inside out to evoke those moments of dizzy-making clarity. - NME

Tickets, priced £16.50, will be available from Queens Students Union Reception and Ticketmaster outlets from Friday the 8th of June
